D&G Fall 2009.

This season Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana looked into the world of Oscar Wilde for inspiration.  Through the velvety fabrics, ornate patterns in jackets, gold embroidery on zippers, the flocking and satin piping, and the photo printing of antique patterns and tapestries, they succeeded at creating a relic of the Victorian period when Wilde was alive.

Then there was the equestrian look of many of the jackets, which seemed to tie in with the Wilde inspiration but was in fact referencing the times of Napoleon Bonaparte. A set of military jackets which looked antique as well, with gold buttons and peak lapels.

It was a reference back to history at least when it came to jackets and tops. The ensembles were paired with more sporty looking trousers. With this they balanced the periodic looks up top.
