Diesel Black Gold Fall 2009 evoked a sense of grunge and nostalgia. With an emphasis on workwear or utilitarian fashions as I like to say, Diesel Creative Director Renzo Rosso focused on distressed garments of 1930’s America. Worn, weathered, stained, this has been the forte if not the trademark of the label known mostly for its denim. The thirties inspired shirts, Prince of Wales Checks all seemed very reminiscent, evocative of The Gilded Age or Great Depression. Recession, anyone? Suddenly it all becomes clear. Images
